Mission Statement

The mission of the Child Care Program at Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute is to provide the training necessary for students to be competitive in the workforce by strengthening the basic, occupational, communication, and technical skills required to become economically self-sufficient or to use acquired training as a foundation to higher education.

This program is designed to educate you in child growth and development, daycare administration, child guidance, and childhood creativity. The hands-on activities will strengthen your ability to implement educational activities for the children who will be in your care. Video, group discussion, and class projects supplement the classroom lectures in hopes that everyone will gain a firm grasp the lesson being taught. The program offers the 120 clock hours required to obtain your Child Development Associate credential (CDA).

The completion of your Child Development Associate (CDA) is not mandatory. However, many childcare and preschool programs require the director or teaching staff to have their CDA credentials.

An Associate Degree is available through a cooperative effort between Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute and East Arkansas Community College (EACC) with the completion of additional courses of instruction.

Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute offers 42 credit hours toward the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree at EACC. There are additional 21 credit hours that must be completed at EACC to receive an AAS degree.
Additional Courses
     Communications
     Computer Fundamentals
     Mathematics
*NOTE: These courses are required to receive a diploma. Unsatisfactory completion of these courses will result in a certificate of completion for the program only.
