Mission Statement

The mission of the Cosmetology Program at Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute is to provide the training necessary for students to be competitive in the workforce by strengthening the basic, occupational, communication, and technical skills required to become economically self-sufficient or to use acquired training as a foundation to higher education.

Welcome to the world of Cosmetology! You are just beginning a great new adventure that will change your life forever.

Cosmetology is the art and science of beautifying and improving the skin, nails, and hair. This also includes the study of cosmetics and their applications.

Cosmetology encompasses a broad range of specialty areas including hair styling, nail technology, and esthetics. For example, you can set your sights on becoming a color or texture specialist within your own salon or work for a product manufacturer. You may choose to seek a career as a salon trainer for a product company or large salon chain. Training can range from technical training, management, or interpersonal skills training. Maybe a job as a consultant or salon manager peaks your interest or the title "salon owner" has a pleasant ring. Once you complete your cosmetology training and obtain your license, the possibilities are limitless.

If you would like more information on the program or the career opportunities that await you as a graduate from the Cosmetology Program at Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute, please call, e-mail, or stop by and see me.

Instructor Biography - Josephine Miller

My name is Josephine Miller and I began my career three decades ago as a licensed cosmetologist, manicurist, salon owner, and makeup and beauty advisor. I have worked with many different hair textures and attend hair seminars, hair shows, and hair competitions. I also spend time in continuing education classes.

For almost a decade, I have utilized my Master Instructor's license. I am devoted to my profession and love encouraging students. My goal as a Master Instructor is to teach, motivate, and prepare students to focus on a bright future; a future in which the student may always find employment.

My motto is: "Practice, practice, practice for perfection, communicate and network with the public." This will allow students to always be employed. I truly love my profession and believe in Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute. I feel students at this institution have made a very good decision in choosing CRTI for their educational needs.
