Mission Statement

The mission of the Tractor Trailer Driving Program at Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute is to provide the training necessary for students to be competitive in the workforce by strengthening the basic, occupational, communication, and technical skills required to become economically self-sufficient or to use acquired training as a foundation to higher education.

Do you enjoy solitude? Does the thought of driving a loaded rig get your blood pumping? Becoming a tractor trailer driver just may be the career for you.

BE WARNED, this industry is not for everyone! Although the life of a tractor trailer driver is very difficult, many technological advances have made the driver's life a little easier such as cell phones to keep in contact with family and friends and portable GPS systems that ensure you will find your destination without too much difficulty.

This program is designed to ensure you will gain the knowledge and training needed to become a first class tractor trailer driver. Our goal is to turn you into a capable, confident driver. During the first week of this program, you will be in the classroom learning everything you need to know to pass the written part of the CDL exam. After that first week, you will learn the ins and outs of how to drive and maintain the truck. When you complete this program, you will be fully endorsed (tanker, double/triple trailers, hazardous materials) and will be qualified to be employed. Safety is emphasized throughout the course.

Instructor Biography - Franklin Waits

I have 10 years of experience in tractor trailer driving.  During that period, I transported goods while executing top tier safety standards and consistent on-time delivery service.
Crowley's Ridge Technical Institute has provided an opportunity for me to pass my developed skills and knowledge onto those interested in truck driving.

I am thrilled to teach a profession to students in an industry that I enjoy.  Teaching will enable me to lead my students to great opportunities in the transportation sector, while developing professionally.

I have high expectations for my students.  Students will be expected to show professionalism, promptness, and an eagerness to learn on a daily basis.  My goal is to prepare my students for career opportunities with reputable transportation companies.

Instructor Biography - Jeffery Roebuck

I have over 25 years experience (accident free) in the tractor trailer driving industry. My experience covers every aspect of tractor trailer driving such as: heavy hauling, cross country, vans, flat bed, and refrigerated trailers.

I enjoy teaching others about this industry. After spending 25 years behind the wheel, teaching gives me the opportunity to stay home with my family and maintain a career in the profession that I love.

I expect nothing less than the best from my students. Promptness, appearance, and safety are emphasized on a daily basis. If I'm going to recommend someone for a position within a reputable company, I want to be assured that person will make a model employee.
